On 19 and 20 August 2026, the Colegio de Escribanos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires hosted the 10th Seminar of its Institute of Notarial Private International Law, held jointly with the 1st International Meeting on Notarial Private International Law, on the theme “The 21st-century notary faced with private international law and comparative law”.
The event was organised by the Institute of Private International Law of the Colegio de Escribanos de CABA, the Universidad Notarial Argentina and the University of Ottawa.
The academic direction of the colloquium was entrusted to Professor María Marta Herrera, notary in Argentina, General Councillor of the UINL and President of the CECABA’s Institute of Private International Law, and to Professor Naivi Chikoc Barreda, General Councillor of Quebec (Canada) to the UINL and professor at the University of Ottawa, both of whom also spoke during the proceedings.
Four panels, held in hybrid format, were devoted to notarial activity involving foreign elements, to legal capacity, to matrimonial property law and to international successions. Speakers included Not. Filipa Azevedo Maia, notary in Portugal and member of the UINL Steering Committee, UINL General Councillors Not. Mariana Ulery Navascués, notary in Uruguay, and Not. Manuel Pérez Caballer, notary in Puerto Rico, as well as Sophie Potentier Rios, notary in France and legal adviser to the UINL.
