First results of the World Bank’s B-Ready report: good performance for UINL Notariats in the real estate index

After the Doing Business report, the World Bank is now working on a new report, the Business Ready report. It is pursuing a new methodology to enable a more accurate and comprehensive empirical assessment of the economic and legal environment of 180 countries. According to Italian economist Antonio Cappiello, this new method- even if does not yet fully take into account all the benefits and the guarantees offered by the notaries – should better highlight the value of notarial activity, thanks to improved time calculations and the inclusion of several qualitative aspects, such as legal certainty. The first edition of the B-Ready report, published in 2024, shows indeed better results in countries that have adopted the Latin-type notariat in real estate transactions.
These first positive results are the fruit of close dialogue between the UINL and the World Bank, symbolized by the signing this year of a Memorandum of Understanding between the UINL and the World Bank.
