After the Doing Business report, the World Bank is now working on a new report, the Business Ready report. It is pursuing a new methodology to enable a more accurate and comprehensive empirical assessment of the economic and legal environment of 180 countries. According to Italian economist Antonio Cappiello, this new method – even if does not yet fully take into account all the benefits and the guarantees offered by the notaries, should better the value of notarial activity, thanks to improved time calculations and the inclusion of several qualitative aspects, such as legal certainty. The first edition of the B-Ready report, published in 2024, shows indeed better results in countries that have adopted the Latin-type notariat in real estate transactions.
These first positive results are the fruit of close dialogue between the UINL and the World Bank, symbolized by the signing this year of a Memorandum of Understanding between the UINL and the World Bank.
