European Affairs Commission in Paris on the theme of “dejudiciarisation”

The European Affairs Commission (CAE) of the UINL, composed by 41 European members, met in Paris on 5 and 6 June 2025 in the historic Chamber of Notaries of Paris.
For this fifth meeting of the legislature, under the Presidency of Italian notary Valentina Rubertelli, the theme chosen for the Notarial Academy was “dejudiciarisation”: New Horizons for the Protection of Persons and Families.
Under the moderation of President Rubertelli, Thierry Vachon (Secretary General of the UINL), Mathilde Lodier (France), Szymon Kołodziej (Poland), Alain Deliège (Belgium), Joan-Carles Rodríguez Miñana (Andorra), José Ignacio González Álvarez (Spain), Sabrina Belloni (Italy), Bertrand Basseville (France), Stéphane David (France), Oana Rosenberg (Romania), Caroline Ginglinger-Poyard (France), and Bernhard Endl (Austria) shared their experiences and discussed their roles in matters of protection of vulnerable persons, divorce, modification of matrimonial property regimes, and mediation.
After a very fruitful round table discussion, UINL Legal Adviser Sophie Potentier Rios presented a summary report aimed at defining the scope of European notaries’ missions in Person and Family law, as well as an outlook for the notarial profession in the area of voluntary jurisdiction.
Finally, Spanish notary Almudena Castro Girona, Chair of the UINL Human Rights Commission, presented her working group’s new White Paper on Minors (Best Practices Guide within the international notariat to provide legal certainty in cross-border parental support for Child Protection).

The plenary session of the European Affairs Commission took place the following day, with a presentation of the various CAE studies currently underway.
