Strengthening Gender Equality in the Legal Professions

The UINL took part yesterday in a remarkable event organized by the Council of the Notariats of the European Union (CNUE) in Brussels, focusing on gender equality in legal professions.

Speakers —including CNUE President Cosita Delvaux and Francesco Depasquale, President of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ)- emphasized the crucial importance of gender equality in the legal sector, highlighting both the progress made and the challenges that remain.

Karen Vandekerckhove, Deputy Director for Equality and Non-Discrimination at the European Commission, also shared valuable perspectives on European initiatives aimed at promoting equality.

Finally, Valentina Rubertelli, President of the European Affairs Commission of the UINL, presented the new UINL guide entitled “Strengthening Gender Equality – Guidelines for Notaries.” This guide, co-funded by the European Commission, compiles best practices and practical measures that European notaries can adopt to foster gender equality in their professional practice.
