Rome, 30 June – 4 July 2026
The 13th edition of the World Notariat University “Jean-Paul Decorps” was held in Rome from 30 June to 4 July 2026, at the Fondazione Anselmo Anselmi – Scuola Notarile di Roma. Held under the theme “International Mobility and Legal Certainty,” this session brought together 90 participants from UINL member notariats, representing 40 different nationalities.
The opening of the proceedings took place in the presence of the President of the UINL, David Figueroa Márquez, who emphasised the central role of continuing education and knowledge-sharing among notariats in building a united world notariat firmly focused on the future.
A week of international training
Under the scientific direction of Not. Thierry Vachon, Scientific Director of the World Notariat University and President of the International Notarial Cooperation Commission (CCNI), the programme was structured around five modules led by professors of international renown:
- Module “Succession Law” – Prof. Michel Grimaldi (France)
- Module “Family Law” – Prof. Cristina Armella (Argentina)
- Module “The Person” – Prof. Christine Morin (Canada)
- Module “Estate” – Prof. Luc Weyts (Belgium)
- Module “Corporate Law & Anti-Money Laundering” – Prof. Birgit Snijder-Kuipers (The Netherlands)
Delivered in French, Spanish and English with simultaneous interpretation, these lectures enabled participants to explore in depth the major legal challenges raised by the international mobility of individuals, families and estates, in the service of the legal certainty guaranteed by the Latin-type notariat.
A visit to the Italian Court of Cassation
Participants were welcomed at the Italian Supreme Court of Cassation, one of the highlights of the week. The delegation was received by Irene Tricomi, Presidente di Sezione della Corte Suprema di Cassazione, together with Raffaele Gargiulo, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Association of Judges and Deputy Prosecutor General at the Court of Cassation. These exchanges highlighted the close ties between the notariat and the judiciary in upholding the rule of law and legal certainty.
Discovering the notarial offices of Rome
The week was also marked by visits to several notarial offices in Rome, giving participants a concrete insight into Italian notarial practice. The UINL extends its warm thanks to the notaries who opened the doors of their offices: Elisa Puglielli, Paolo and Enrico Castellini, Lorenzo Cavalaglio and Ramondelli e Associati.
A now essential gathering
True to the spirit of its founder, Honorary President Jean-Paul Decorps, the World Notariat University confirms, edition after edition, its vocation: to ensure the continuing education of notaries, to forge lasting ties among notariats throughout the world, and to affirm the role of the notariat as a trusted actor of international mobility.
